Welcoming Parish Team
The Welcoming Parish Team plays a vital role in building a sense of community and belonging within our parish. Their mission is to ensure that every person who walks through our doors feels seen, valued, and at home.
This team is responsible for:
-
Greeting parishioners and visitors warmly at the start of each Mass
-
Providing helpful information about parish life, events, and services
-
Organising hospitality moments such as morning teas, shared meals, and social gatherings
-
Creating opportunities for connection and friendship within the community
-
Supporting new parishioners as they integrate into parish life
-
Through these simple but meaningful acts of service, the Welcoming Team helps transform our parish into more than just a place of worship—it becomes a spiritual home for all.
If you wish to join the team contact Jeanette on jeanette.kearney1255@gmail.com.
Get Involved at Holy Cross Catholic Church
At Holy Cross, being part of our parish means more than attending Mass—it's about becoming part of a living, caring community. There are many opportunities to get involved, whether you’d like to volunteer, meet new people, grow in your faith, or support others in need.
We offer a range of ministries and groups that welcome new members throughout the year. Our Men’s Group meets on the first Wednesday of every month at 7:30pm in the Crypt—a great opportunity for friendship, faith-based discussion, and community service. Similarly, the Women’s Group gathers in the Crypt on the fourth Wednesday of each month at 8:30am, offering a relaxed and welcoming space for connection, reflection, and support.
If you’re interested in taking a more active role in the spiritual life of the parish, there are several ways to participate in our liturgical ministries. You might feel called to serve as a lector, Eucharistic Minister, altar server, or to share your musical gifts by joining the choir. These roles are a meaningful way to contribute during Mass and help create a rich and reverent worship experience.
For those wanting to deepen their understanding of the Catholic faith, we offer Catholic education and catechism classes that are open to adults and young people alike. You’re also welcome to join one of our Bible Study or Faith Formation groups, where you can explore Scripture and grow spiritually in the company of others on a similar path.
Community service is another key part of life at Holy Cross. Through our Social Outreach and Charity initiatives, we offer practical support to those who need it most—right here in our own community.
Our Youth Ministry and Young Adults programs also provide a space for younger parishioners to connect, grow in faith, and take part in meaningful service projects and events.
No matter your interests or experience, there’s a place for you here.
Get in touch to find out how you can get involved—we’d love to welcome you.

Holy Cross
Sacristans
The role of the Sacristan is a longstanding ministry within the Catholic Church, with origins stretching back many centuries. Typically serving behind the scenes, Sacristans carry out their responsibilities before and after liturgical services. Their primary duty is to prepare all necessary items for the celebration of the Mass, sacraments, or other liturgical events. This includes tasks such as arranging liturgical books, lighting candles, and setting out sacred vessels and linens. After each celebration, the Sacristan is responsible for returning the used items—such as books, vessels, and altar cloths—to their proper places in the sacristy. They may also need to clean and purify the sacred vessels, and ensure that altar linens like corporals, purificators, and finger towels are set aside for suitable laundering. Sacristans: Bellanto Michelle Rede Maria
